A few weeks ago I had lunch with an idol of mine, Dan Miller from 48days.com. He was speaking at the CES Conference in Louisville that I attended. If you aren’t familiar with Dan you should really check him out.
I mentioned to him that the very last job I had was washing windows. I was in graduate school at the time and I was washing windows because it was a sure thing. It took a long time to realize exactly what those hours working for someone else’s vision was costing me.
Once I finally stopped washing windows and focused on my business we blew the doors off. Eventually I had to even drop out of graduate school to work on finding more books to sell online. So I never did get to have a job where I had to wear a suit and tie to work, but that doesn’t bother me one bit.
I have never in my life worked so hard as the 24 months after I quit washing windows. And now I get to reap the rewards of that and spend most of my time pursuing things that may not offer returns...
