Once you’ve successfully set up some streams of passive income you all-of-a-sudden find that you have some free time on your hands. I find myself in that very situation, which means I have options.
I can spend all of this extra time in a variety of ways; spending more time with my family, traveling, working on coaching material, investing time into a worthwhile hobby, donating time and energy to a non-profit and the list goes on and on and on. Traditionally when a business man or woman reaches the season in life where they can step back from the daily workings of their business, they decide to take on mentors. This seems like an intriguing proposition.
As a home-school dad I’m well aware that families that are educating their children in a non-traditional way are looking to give their kids practical life skills without having to institutionalize them. There are countless home-schooled teens that are looking for apprentice opportunities, maybe our Amazon selling business would be a good educational training ground for our up and coming entrepreneurs?
I could spend my extra time working on a custom-built curriculum for my teen apprentice which would include lots of one-on-one time as well as a large list of required reading. I would make it my goal to have them prepared to start their own business by the time that we were finished. In exchange, they would be required to put in some hard work for me.
To get ready for this move you’ll need to work hard at systematizing your business. What I mean by that is, you’ll need to breakdown various tasks in your business and write step-by-step guides that others can use to learn various aspects of your business. This way if you were interesting in having someone work for you, you would have all of the relative information ready to get them going.
Would this be something that you would be interested in? I like the idea of helping the next generation of entrepreneurs, this might be a great opportunity to do just that.
